A few weeks ago, i said those words to me students - and i was greeted with rolls of the eyes and accusations that went "You are saying that we won't win????"!
When a renowned law professor said that a couple of days ago, me students all broke into spontaneous applause.

Its not whats been said, its who is saying it.
Someone who has more expeience in life/that field; someone who has embraced it, been through it, lived it, survived it. Compare with someone who studied about it. I am not saying you are the 2nd one, its just a comparison.
I've been there understand what you mean. Sometimes its also what we say before and after that phrase. And in the art of the conversation, the emphasis, implication and impression we put forth the entire subject.
Does it speak of us having less drive? I wonder myself. Are Christian less competitive?
