Ben* - Michael Jackson

WOW!!!!!

It has been so long since i watched such a brilliant movie! Movies have been so bad that my expectations have been really low - so much so that i enjoyed flicks like What Happens In Vegas and Meet Dave!!!

When i was thinking back of the year 2008, i was meaning to post up my top movies of the year (just like how i did for 2007 here). But i could not think of any movies!!!!! Maybe Kung Fu Panda!

But The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is so so so so good! So brilliant! I so enjoy it! And i so must increase my vocabulary, especially on superlatives!!!!

It was so good that even tho i was extremely tired and sleepy before it, it kept me wide awake all thru the movie. It was so good that i enjoyed it even tho i was having an upset tummy. It was so good that i did not realise how long the movie actually is - 2 hours and 46 minutes!!!! Was shocked to discover it was so late when the movie ended - and would not have minded if it went on longer!

It is such a wonderful story of Benjamin. His life was unusual - but what he went thru i believe is what we all go thru in our lives - love, hurt, disappointment, frustration, elation, frenship, adventure. A reminder that every life is a miracle, that nothing lasts forever, that it is never too late to live our lives to its fullest.

The fatigue has returned and is taking over now - but i just wanna share some quotes from the movie (lifted from IMDB):-

I was thinking how nothing lasts, and what a shame that is.

Along the way you bump into people who make a dent on your life. Some people get struck by lightning. Some are born to sit by a river. Some have an ear for music. Some are artists. Some swim the English Channel. Some know buttons. Some know Shakespeare. Some are mothers. And some people can dance.

Your life is defined by its opportunities... even the ones you miss.

It's a funny thing about comin' home. Looks the same, smells the same, feels the same. You'll realize what's changed is you.

Benjamin, we're meant to lose the people we love. How else would we know how important they are to us?

Everyone feels different about themselves one way or another, but we all goin' the same way.

You can be as mad as a mad dog at the way things went. You could swear, curse the fates, but when it comes to the end, you have to let go.

For what it's worth: it's never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There's no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you're proud of. If you find that you're not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.

And there is the really long one regarding how life is a series of intersecting lives and incidents.

Go watch it! I'll be watching it again.

Oh, Cate Blanchett looks so good this movie too! :-)

*The theme song for the 1972 movie of the same name, it was originally written for Donny Osmond but he was unavailable.
