1,000 miles away* - Jewel

The distance from Beijing to London is slightly more than 5,000 miles away - and i won't be exaggerating if i say that the distance of the level of mathematics taught in both places is a thousand miles away!!! Compare these following math problems - for the Uni entry level in China and for 1st Year Uni students in the UK:-

I know what you mean about dumb British uni students. I see them everyday. A bunch of them just spent the last hour screaming while running round the pond outside in the dark. Cutting into intellect building time with.. chasing ducks skills (yes, we have 2 resident ducks at our pond). No wonder they have to lower the entrance levels. tsk tsk..

haha.. not like Msian unis are any better.. they're not!

I learnt recently that these people learn Algebra only in Uni (YES?). Malaysian unis are not better but I'm proud that we learn trigo in form4. haha. :)

Ehhh...
Nothing wrong with screaming while running round the pond outside in the dark.

Though i've not done it before, i feel offended.

Maybe the ducks were fed up with each other?
Two little duckies i once knew
Fat one skinny one, two by two,
Killed each other out of boredom.

(chinese character) : which point are you trying to make with this illustration anyway?

hhmmm... remind me to tell you the story of 4 m'sian guys who broke into a public park one nite armed wif cleavers wif the intention to catch a duck and cook it!!!!

and the "urban legend" in UoE about this china student who got deported back to China for actually killing (and cooking) one of her majesty's swans!!!

no serious point was intended wif this post.

to be fair to m'sian unis, methinks the Uni-entrance exams (a.k.a. STPM) is pretty tough but we've got no choice unless we are of a certain race *ahem*.

still, being good in math and having loads of head knowledge does not equate wif intelligence/wisdom.

i think i understand charity's point - i've had me fair share of listening to drunk brits every nite on campus making a nuisance of themselves while we try to sleep/study.

Well... you're in their country so, too bad!

I'm sure people studying in ours have their fair share of complaints too, but...too bad! =p

they (like you) gotta put up with it.

the issue is not running or screaming, or who is in whose country, i just dont like people being hypocrites.

I once asked where this room was and this brit guy told me if i just followed the numbers, i would be able to find it. I mean, i did that before asking & still cldnt find it so it wasnt me being stupid (or not being able to count), it was stupid labelling on the doors. I felt offended cos he said it with a smug look of his face, like im the stupid one. Not generalising all Brits but i have personally heard some really derogatory things being said about foreigners & when their youth behave badly, it's just hypocritical.

Msia is hypocritical as well, m not saying we're not. And when u get old (like me), it really is annoying to have to put up with screaming at 2am every night.

charity: agreed. except that you are not old - cuz if you are, then i'm ancient!!!!
