Obsessed* - Mariah Carey

Many people do not understand why we are so obsessed over the World Cup - i have seen so far people who are of the fairer sex who cannot appreciate the draw and the excitement the World Cup brings to many people.

That is fine. To each its own.

I am one of those who fall into the category of being caught up with the World Cup - as is obvious by the recent numerous posts about footie and the headers of this blog.

The first WC header - made the mistake of adding Buffon in it!!!

To celebrate England's first WC goal

To mourn England being knocked-out

Kuyt and the Oranje!!!!

While i respect everyone's decision to watch or not to watch, i am saddened by those who not only do not want to watch but goes on to ridicule or to talk bad about people like us.

Why do they do that???? They only end up showing to everyone that they are ignorant, sexist and disrespectful.

They think they are very amusing and clever by making comments about why grown men are chasing a ball around a pitch and why the men are so pathetic cheering for teams and player who dun know or even care about us.

Well, comments like those only confirm their ignorance of the whole game. If you want to criticise, go head but make sure u know wat u r talking about. You end up looking like a fool when u try to comment on something which u obviously have no knowledge of.

Further, they also betray their sexist tendencies - by making generalisations that only men are caught up with the World Cup. I know of many ladies who are just as interested - or even more fanatical! A fren put on his status a few days ago about how the tables have turned - he was alone at home while his wife was out watching Germany play!!!!

Finally, even if these ppl cannot understand why we want to support a team or players, why does it matter to them? Does it seriously affect them? We may be obsessed but at the very least, can they not respect us for our choices as long as those choices are not legally or morally wrong?

Ok, enuf edi. At least the footie starts again today! Woohoo!

*People have speculated that this song was directed at Emimen. According to her husband, it was taken from a line from Mean Girls.
