I got down on time to see the start of the second set - and a display of grace, accuracy and power in tennis never seen before!!!
I'm referring to the Mens' semi-finals of the Australian Open between Federer and Roddick. Having finally beaten Federer just earlier this month, Roddick must have thought that he had a good chance of progressing into the finals.
He was mistaken.
We all felt for him - all the more as i know what a nice guy he is, and what a wonderful tennis player he has become.
But as the commentator exclaimed, "It's not a racquet in his hands - it's a magic wand!" And i had to agree that we were indeed privilleged to witness such a wonderful display of brilliant tennis by Federer. If you missed it, dun take me word for it - read about it here (and catch the highlights on a link therein).
It's a pity, tho cuz it is hard to imagine Federer reproducing that performance in the finals... or can he?
He is beyond doubt, the world's greatest tennis player now - and some say of all time!
